We put my kitty Helix to sleep yesterday. He had a large growth in his abdomen, and the vet (whom I trust regardless of the fact that he was a total psycho when I worked there) said it was for the best that we not put him through more tests and surgeries when he was pretty sure there wasn't much we could do about it.
I've never had to make the choice whether or not to put a cat to sleep. All of the cats we've ever lost were outside cats that vanished or my mother made the choice. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be.
He was born here and grew up here, aside from the few months that he lived with Pat and Charlotte. He was Sassy's twin. The other cat's don't really seem like they've noticed. I feel for Lu Lu because those two were all but connected to each other.
So we're down one Helix. And my baby Grey is the last boy cat in the house.
